Tony's Take: Round 1
So excited for everything going on in 2012! Anyone that knows me, knows what an eclectic soul I am, so naturally my club reflects that. In 2008, I came to Abilene in search of bettering the Nightlife in a town, that quite frankly, seemed to be starved for it. As much as people want to label us, categorize us, or compare us to other bars, we are one of a kind! If you want to sit and cry in a beer with a couple of friends, there are plenty of choices, but for the adventurous types, there is the Lucky Mule! I understand it can be confusing at times, not always consistent throughout the weeks, but know this, if you follow our website, our Facebook, or even our Twitter, you will realize how exciting Abilene can be! Unlike most clubs, profit margin and alcohol sales are NOT our motivating force, what inspires me are GREAT parties! I want to be the voice of people that do not like labels, that know "how" to party!!
Back when we started in 2008, we gravitated to what we thought Abilene wanted, but since then, we have evolved into the only true "Venue" in Abilene! I personally respond to all Emails, Facebook posts, and all suggestions because I want EVERYONE to have a voice in entertainment, which is why we have expanded our entertainment. We have everything from giant Rock shows, Country and Texas Music shows, Tribute bands, Dub step and electronica nights, Hip Hop, and everything in between. I say this, not to "promote", but to inform people of all walks of life that they too have a home here in our family club. I personally have gone through many transformations during my time here in Abilene, so I feel as though I have a very unique prospective.
When I started, partying, drinking, and even getting wasted was my main goal. I was an outsider, without friends and family here, but somewhere along the way, I have met so many great people here that have accepted me with open arms. I was not born here, and living here has had its bumps and bruises, but I finally feel as though I, My club, and family are welcome additions to Abilene. While I cherish those moments (the ones I can remember) I had to significantly slow down my alcohol consumption, as well as my fast food consumption...HA! Funny how those things tend to go hand in hand, I have dropped an amazing 120lbs, got my big butt in the Gym, and have tried to better myself.
While there continues to be "Mule Haters" in this town, understand that I do not judge, my staff reflects me, and it's time you demanded more with your hard earned money. I never get mad because someone goes to another bar or club, I only get mad about close minded people that do not enjoy everything life has to offer. I am personally enjoying things I thought I never would have the opportunity to, and I'm better for it!
TIME TO BREAK YOUR ROUTINE PEOPLE! Everyone from 18-80 should come enjoy the Mule, even if you don't drink, your entertainment for you and your significant other should not be limited to dinner and a movie... Try a concert! Try some dancing! Just LIVE! I want to inspire everyone to have a new lease on life, because it can be gone in a flash! I have lost some good friends this year, and it saddens me, but really puts into perspective how little time we have on this planet, and how we should always strive to experience as much as we can before the sand runs out of the hour glass.
Sorry to rant, but to sum it up, Live big, love big, and party big! Change starts with you, and we might not be the inspirational leader you were looking for, but LUCKY MULE is here, and haters are just gonna have to live with that fact! Now, LET'S PARTY!
